What is ASHIA?

The Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) was established to create a sustainable health financing system for the people of Anambra State. Operating under a social health insurance model, ASHIA pools contributions from enrollees to fund healthcare costs — ensuring that no family is pushed into poverty because of a medical bill.

Individuals, families, and businesses can access comprehensive care from accredited primary, secondary, and tertiary health facilities across the state. Online self-enrolment is available, and pre-authorisations are processed in as little as 30 minutes.

Our Partnership with ASHIA

Onitsha Health and Wellness (OHW) actively supports the ASHIA mission. As a diaspora-driven organisation, we help bridge the awareness gap — connecting Onitsha communities at home and abroad with the health insurance services they are entitled to. We encourage every Anambra indigene to enrol and take advantage of this important scheme.

Who Can Enrol?

ASHIA has a plan for every income level and occupation. Whether you are a formal sector worker, trader, farmer, artisan, or student — there is a coverage option for you and your family. The scheme is designed with equity at its core, ensuring that geography or financial status does not determine access to quality healthcare.

How to Enrol

Enrolment is straightforward. You can register online through the ASHIA portal, visit any accredited ASHIA facility, or reach their 24-hour call centre. Once enrolled, you and your dependants gain immediate access to the full benefits package at any accredited provider across Anambra State.
